Implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for directional lamps, light emitting diode lamps and related equipment.
The implementation of the Ecodesign recast for Energy Related Products (ErP) for ‘new technologies emerging on the market’. This aims at reducing the environmental impact and the energy consumption throughout the entire product life cycle. The specific products covered include, directional lamps, light emitting diode (LED) lamps and intermediate equipment between the supply and the lamp (i.e control gear, control devices and luminaire housings). The directive applies to any products entering the EU market. The requirements include:
Energy Efficiency of lamps & control gear
Functionality (including lumen maintenance, switching cycle failure, colour rendering, power factor, premature failure rate)
