Energy performance of buildings (EPBD)

The directive for energy performance of buildings aims to improve the levels of energy usage and efficiency in new buildings, while considering the local climate, the climate required within the structure and cost effectiveness. In determining the energy efficiency of the building the directive considers factors such as electricity use, boilers, insulation and air conditioning. The document outlines the procedure of assessing the energy usage of an energy consuming building and the responsibility of the member states. This directive is geared heavily towards the general energy usage and design of a whole building, but should be considered by manufactures producing products for used in doors.
